Last but not least, I always keep the original installation files of all software I have. A while ago I asked them to activate a license for Bias Amp 1 on my old Mac, and they made it happen. But the guys at Positive Grid are very helpful. If this all fails, have you tried asking Positive Grid for the installation file of the previous version? Something I like about Amplitube is that they keep on my downloads page all versions I have installed. Google "windows restore point" if you're not familiar with this.ģ. There's a chance the plugin corrupted Reaper in some way that cannot be removed with a simple uninstall/install, but a previous restore point may be able to get rid of it. Revert back to a previous Windows Restore Point, before you installed the Bias update. Every time I load Bias FX or Bias Amp, I notice it looks for an Internet connection.Ģ.
Things freezing on load could be the plugin trying unsuccessfully to connect to Positive Grid's server because a Windows firewall is blocking it. I have done these things on my Windows machine (although for audio editing, I use a Mac):ġ. It doesn't seem like an issue related to Reaper. This last one makes me thing there is something I need to do in REAPER I can open the VST version in wavosaur without crashing
If I run an older project with bias fx on it, it runs fine as long as I don't try to show the bias fx guiĥ. Like most bias/bias fx issues you hear about, it happens right as the GUI gets shown.Ĥ. We have tried every uninstall, registry clean, etc you can think ofģ. I was on with Positive grid tech support since yesterday and we are scratching our heads. Reinstalling the older version still results in the same problem. It started after updating to the latest version of Bias FX. If anyone has any ideas, I am having a problem of bias fx crashing when loading in reaper and freezing the computer requiring a hard reboot.
My amps originally created in Bias Amp sounded terrible in Bias Amp 2. To create the presets for the videos I shared in this post, I had to redo everything from scratch in Bias Amp 2. The copy/paste FX command in Reaper is incredibly helpful to address this particular issue.Īnother issue is that presets created in Bias Amp don't sound the same in Bias Amp 2. Often I have to delete the plugin from a track, copy the same FX from another track and paste it there again. Although I'm able to load it ok in Reaper with my Mac, sometimes the commands within the plugin don't work. So sorry to hear that! Are you referring to the standalone or VST version of Bias FX? Unfortunately, Bias FX is buggy. Due to the amount of hash these plugins write to the reaper project file, I'm betting its the copy protection, but damn.What a bummer. This happened to people before, also with Bias Amp, it always seems to be issues right where the GUI first loads up. It runs fine as long as the GUI hasn't been opened, so previously saved projects, without the GUI showing will work, but any attempt to see the Bias FX GUI will freeze the computer requiring a hard reset. Man, what a bummer, I was on with PG tech support all yesterday and last night, and after this last update, just cannot open Bias FX VST.
